About This Video

In this video, I review the Breville Barista Express (BBE) as someone who’s been using the Flair Pro 2 every single day for the past six months. The big question I wanted to answer was simple: can the Barista Express replace my Flair as my daily driver? For my use case—especially when I need to brew around six to eight cups of coffee in the morning—the answer is yes. At around 40,000 pesos, it’s an all-in-one machine with the brew head, steam wand, and built-in grinder, so the workflow is fast and beginner-friendly. I walk through the build and design (mostly metal, compact counter footprint, straightforward interface), plus the features like grind amount, single/double shot options, pressure gauge, cleaning notifications, and even temperature adjustment. I also talk about the biggest issue: the grinder and bean hopper. The hopper holds a lot (around 500g), but the heat from the machine can make beans go stale if you leave them there. I brew a shot, compare the taste to what I’m used to on the Flair (surprisingly close), then steam milk—slower than I expected, but still totally usable for latte art. My final take: the BBE is a solid household machine, and if budget isn’t an issue, I’d recommend it—just be mindful of the grinder and how you store your beans.
