I’m going to ask you a simple question: you’re watching this video on your phone… but is your phone watching you back? On Android, some apps can access your camera, microphone, or location with no obvious notification, and a lot of people have at least one installed without realizing it. In this video, I show you what “stalkerware” really is, how it ends up on your phone (usually via APKs outside the Play Store or someone getting physical access for a few minutes), and the warning signs you should never ignore. Then I walk you through a quick, free check you can do in under five minutes: battery usage (a spy app runs constantly and drains power), unexpected heat when you’re not using the phone, and the big one people miss—the green/orange dot that can appear when the camera or mic is active. I also show you how to see which apps used your camera in the last 24 hours, switch suspicious permissions to “ask every time,” and restrict background battery so an app can’t quietly wake itself up. And my golden rule: never install APKs outside the Play Store—ever. If you suspect someone had access to your phone, the cleanest fix is a factory reset (after backing up your photos).
