About This Video

Today I continued my hybrid coloring pursuits by trying seven different coloring techniques on one page—Bubble Bath Time from Jade Summer’s Cozy Moms. I used a mix of alcohol markers, colored pencils, and acrylic markers, and I went into this knowing some techniques were ones I’d only dabbled in (or honestly, never properly tried at all). That’s what made it such a fun challenge: I learned a lot in real time, and I got to lean into the page’s potential for textures, reflections, and cozy little details. I combined wallpaper patterns with beginner-friendly cast shadows (yes, the slightly scary kind that instantly adds dimension), then tackled the classic 3D tile effect—complete with a reminder to let marker layers dry if you want crisp details. I also winged a “glass window” effect using soft white pencil highlights (I loved how subtle and erasable it was), tried a realistic hair method with flicks, acrylic marker line coverage, and even a few imperfect stray strands, and then fully committed to the bubble bath effect with dots, a colorless blender, and translucent white brush acrylic layers that absolutely sold it for me. I wrapped it up with a fluffy/fuzzy texture on the rug (and towel) because nothing says cozy like something that looks touchable—plus my little 90% rule saved me from overworking the page.
