About This Video

This laptop is a beast—like, $5,100 “more than my old car” kind of beast. In this video I go hands-on with the HP Omen Max 16 and test if it’s a legit no-compromise gaming machine or just an overpriced flex. I start with the unboxing and first impressions (clean all-metal build, no cheesy gamer vibes), then I dig into the specs that matter: RTX 5090-class power (175W), Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX, a 16-inch QHD+ OLED at 240Hz, and a 2TB NVMe SSD. Then I actually stress it the way you guys would: Cyberpunk 2077, Black Myth: Wukong, and Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora—raw performance first, then DLSS/Frame Gen where it makes sense. I also talk about the real trade-off: Frame Gen can add a bit of lag for competitive play, but it’s awesome for big single-player games (Wukong jumped from ~150 to ~230 FPS for me, with tiny artifacts in fast fights). For creators, I run DaVinci Resolve and Premiere Pro tests, and Resolve is where this thing feels like it can save you hours. Thermals and noise are the big story too: Tempest Cooling Pro kept me in the 80s after long sessions, but Unleashed mode sounds like a jet. Add in the gorgeous OLED, solid ports (no Thunderbolt 5 though), surprisingly decent battery life for a gaming laptop, and my comparison versus the Scar 18, Legion 9i, and Titan HX—then I wrap with who should actually spend $5,100 on this.
