In this video I basically ask the question every working guitarist ends up asking: do I really need a massive analogue pedalboard, or can a used Line 6 Helix just replace the whole thing for live gigs? I’m not talking about running digital amps or IRs here either — I’m using the Helix like a straight-up pedalboard into the front of real tube amps. I walk through what it replaces, do a couple of play tests, and share my first impressions after actually using it in a real-world “turn up, plug in, play” context. The big takeaway is that in 2026, with used prices dropping, the Helix is getting dangerously hard to ignore. When you add up what a full analogue board costs (and the cabling, power, troubleshooting, and back pain), the Helix can be the cheapest and easiest gigging rig you can build right now — especially if you’re doing rehearsals, pub gigs, cover sets, or anything where consistency and speed matter. I also show how I set up my patches for live use, and I go through the pros and cons so you can decide if it’s a smart move for your own setup.
