About This Video

In this video I put the 2008 Line 6 M13 up against the 2025 Hotone Ampero Stomp in a blind modulation shootout. It’s Part 3 of my Old vs New series, and we’re living in the chorus/flanger/phaser/tremolo zone—aka the stuff that can either make your tone feel huge and 3D… or make it fall apart if it’s not dialled right. I run both units side-by-side and label them A and B so you can judge with your ears instead of the price tag or release date. The whole point here is simple: do modern modellers actually sound “better,” or is older multi-FX tech still absolutely usable in 2025? I’m not trying to crown a winner on specs—this is about the feel and the musicality of the modulation, how lush the choruses are, how chewy the phasers get, how the flangers sit, and whether the tremolo feels smooth and controllable. If you’re a tone tweaker, a vintage FX tragic, or you’re sceptical about newer compact modellers, this one should give you a solid reality check—and hopefully make you want to go back and watch the reverbs and delays parts too.
