In this video I’m recreating the viral TikTok sequin seashell skirt (you know the one) because I truly did not want to spend $300+ on something I’ll probably wear only a few times. I’m a DIY girly, so I grabbed a white skirt I already owned (she’s from PacSun and I’ve worn her to the max) and decided to turn her into something new for summer. I chose white shells on purpose because I want it to match basically everything—pink and green are cute, but I know I’ll style this with a ton of different tops. I walk you through my whole process: picking the base skirt (yes, mine has a slit and I was a little delusional thinking it would be fine), ordering a simple sewing kit, laying out all the shells first, and then hand-sewing everything with needle and thread. I’m not claiming to be a pro—I literally haven’t sewn since I was like eight—so this is very trial-and-error, but we learn together. Biggest takeaway: I only sewed shells on the front because TikTok comments were so real about the back breaking when you sit (and I’m not trying to get hurt). I also show outfit ideas and how I’d style it, plus my plan to wear it as a “first row” version and a fuller version so it feels like two different skirts.
