In January I ran my 9th 100-miler at the Long Haul 100 Ultra. Since then Covid-19 took over and put a hold on most racing for the rest of 2020. Fortunately, I squeezed it in before the world closed down. The course, a 10x10mi loop, runs through the beautiful wooded forests of the Cyprus Creek Preserve near Tampa, Florida. It was 28 painful hours filled with heat, sweat, and dust. I shared the course with the best, salt-of-the-earth dirtbag runners you'll ever have the chance to meet. If you ever find yourself in Florida in late January, don't miss the chance to run this great race. It's a cheap adventure for any capable distance runner. It's also a great option for anyone in the Southeast looking for a Western States 100 qualifier. Thanks to all the Volunteers and Race Directors, Amy & Andy, for the great memories.
