If you’re a tech professional building on the side, you already know the gap between “I can build this” and “I can actually ship this.” In this video, I talk about the part nobody glamorizes: the stuff around the product. Email management, customer questions, follow-ups, operations, logistics—those little tasks that quietly eat your focus and pull you away from the one thing that matters: making a great product. This hit us hard when my co-founder and I started Gen Academy, our hands-on AI engineering training platform. So I built a chatbot in Zapier, and I show how simple it is: I literally started by pasting in my website URL, and Zapier pulled our course descriptions, pricing, and FAQs to create a working bot. Then I made it powerful with custom knowledge sources (internal docs/Google Drive), structured logic (lead capture, inline buttons, triggering zaps), channel integrations (Gmail, plus Slack/Messenger), and clear instructions on tone and escalation.
