Here's how I make my pickles: Garlic clove in each jar, dill on the bottom, fill with cucumbers the smaller the better, dill on top. 1 T. sugar, 1 T. canning salt, 1/2 c. vinegar, fill jar with water to 1/4 inch and water bath. Once water boils hard, turn off heat, leave cover on and allow to rest in water bath for about 5-15 minutes. This method is not an approved method, but it has worked for me for 25+ years. If a jar does not seal, just pop it in the fridge, give it a few weeks to flavor up and then enjoy your delicious crisp and crunchy pickles!!
