Comments over Coffee: Why are we so obsessed with qualifying as professional accountants?

This discussion relates to most professional accounting qualifications. While the duration of the qualification process I refer to relate to the CA(SA) qualification, the concepts apply to most other qualifications. Most students I work with are absolutely committed to this qualification journey, and you know how much I respect that commitment. :) But, I want to talk about some reasons that we might potentially be a little 'too' obsessed about getting this qualification. This is intended to provide perspective, some thought-provoking discussions, and for those who are finding themselves not moving forward after years and years... I want you to think of some stuff.
