In this vlog I’m taking you along as I start a brand new job here in New Zealand, while also trying to keep life feeling steady for our little family. The big focus this week is slowly transitioning our son into kindergarten (because that first drop-off era can be a lot), and figuring out how to balance a new work routine with being present at home. If you’re a South African living in New Zealand—or planning the move—this is a real look at what the “new chapter” actually feels like day-to-day. I also share a few little wins that make living abroad easier, like finding a shop that sells South African products (honestly, those familiar snacks and staples hit different when you’re far from home). And because we’re still exploring, we got outside and went hiking at Okere Falls. It’s a simple week, but it’s the kind of week that shows what settling in really looks like: new schedules, new spaces, and finding small pieces of home while building a life in a new country.
