UPDATE: I've received 3 freelance writing opportunities since updating my LinkedIn page with Russ's help! You! Yes, I'm talking to you. If you want to make money by writing online, you need to improve your LinkedIn page. I'm guilty of this too! My LinkedIn page looks awful. That's why I'm so thrilled to be hosting a writer's workshop with Russ Riendeau, Sr. Partner & Chief Behavioral Scientist of New Frontier Search. He's a LinkedIn expert This workshop will have two parts. First, Russ will be tearing my LinkedIn profile to absolute shreds, all in the name of self-improvement. It'll hurt, but it's worth it! Second, he'll be discussing how he'll use LinkedIn to market his book that just came out. As a writer myself, this bit is what I'm especially looking forward to. As with all my livestreams, please bring yourself and any questions you have! This is going to be an amazing opportunity, and I'm so excited to share this with you. I know I'm not alone when it comes to mismanaging my LinkedIn profile. To find Russ, you can check him out at: - his personal website, russriendeau.com - his flawless LinkedIn page, www.linkedin.com/in/russriendeau/ - his book: https://amzn.to/3mlp0A6 - his business's website, newfrontiersearch.net Subscribe to my channel to get videos and live events on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Sundays. I love answering questions and helping you out - let me know in the comments what you thought! Want to book me for consulting or editing services? If you like what you see, feel free to get in touch with here at dreyfrusjada at gmail dot com. My notes on our interview: Wallpaper: thematic. Title: not what you do, but your value prop Exciting, dynamic, ask a question to engage viewer. Contact info: At least a email address. Ask a question: are you looking for someone to strengthen your copywriting? Are you trying to reach a larger audience? Then CTA. “If these resonate, email me here” Headline question at the top. Be more specific, less generic Experience: - Attach pictures to your content but with convincing stats. - Let the customer know this is what i do and what i’m good at - Don’t market yourself, market how you helped someone else. Show an article I wrote for someone. Clients: - If no clients, no lying. - Find someone who works for a company and have them send $1 and give ideas for consulting services. - Compelling reason to call: what, how, and how well you do Education: - More the better - Endorsements are good but not a deal breaker. What you want in skills is what your experience is, how you help/coach people - Results are best. Can write something for them if they don’t know what to say. “Are you open to giving a rec? Do you want me to draft to save you that time?” -Craft it in the 3rd person and flattering, but let them make edits. When you ask people to help, share content and messages. Interests, groups, followers, companies - Follow the checkbook. Follow companies and people who are your ideal customers - Everyone is trying to get attention. Don’t get attention by putting content out there, put questions out instead. Unique question that requires people to say “hm, interesting.” Don’t try to solve problems, just start conversations. -Join groups of like minded individuals (e.g. swimming). Build association, ask questions. Cross-check groups (swimming + marketing) to find potential customers. Use trend + mutual interest = interest People: - Who will be writing my check? Search job title - See what groups they hang out in How Russ markets his book - Can’t put press release on LinkedIn. Can’t market own book on linkedIn. - Depends on book. Tricky to market. You don’t market the book, you market what the book does for the reader. - Russ’s angle: power of poetry helps heal people. That’s his angle. It’s a corporate tool. Give poetry book than logo-d coffee mug. - Don’t sell one at a time - easier to sell to corporate america in bulk. 1000 books once, not one book 1000 times - People cherish books, not branded merch.
