In this video I break down everything you really need to know about Softube Console 1 Mk3—in 5 minutes or less. I walk you through the on-screen display app (toggle it top left), loading the plugin, and the resizable GUI. And yes, you can use the Console 1 plugin without the hardware and still get the full processing chain: tape + preamp, filters, shape, EQ, compressor, and drive. From there I show how track selection works from the top buttons (color-coded LEDs), banking with page buttons, and those three-segment LEDs that can be set for incoming or outgoing signal. Mk3 adds a bunch of practical upgrades I actually care about: dual high-res displays with analyzer/VU/gain reduction/waveform views, simple menu navigation with the red volume knob, and tons of shift-layer secondary functions. The new tape + preamp section lets you load different preamps (including UAD offerings), you can reorder processing sections, adjust Q on the lowest/highest bands, and there’s makeup gain for compression. You also get six sends, new potentiometer knobs that feel great (LEDs respond to touch), improved preset management with undo/redo, stereo width on the output, and A/B/C/D snapshots. It integrates seamlessly with your DAW—I use it with Studio One and it’s perfect. The question really becomes: who couldn’t use one of these?
