In this video I’m taking a pitted, corroded flashlight reflector and bringing it back to life using something most of us already have in the kitchen: aluminum foil. When these older metal reflectors get age-related corrosion, the surface ends up looking like the moon—little craters everywhere—and that absolutely kills your light output. Instead of trying to track down a replacement part (which can be tough on vintage lights), I show my simple DIY method to restore reflectivity and get the beam looking right again. I walk through what causes the pitting, how I clean and prep the reflector so the foil actually lays down properly, and then how I apply the foil to cover those damaged areas and bring the shine back. The big takeaway is that this isn’t some “magic” fix for a destroyed reflector, but it’s a very practical budget repair that can make a noticeable difference. I also do a before-and-after light output comparison so you can see the improvement for yourself and decide if it’s worth doing on your own flashlight restoration.
