Women entrepreneurs are creating jobs, training workers, and generating ripple effects that lift entire communities. In Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, Haika Lawere, owner of the Mbezi Garden Hotel, secured a loan with support from the Women Entrepreneurs Finance Initiative (We-Fi) to keep her business running after the COVID-19 pandemic. This film shows the impact of that investment through the eyes of two employees whose jobs were protected by that loan. Since 2017, We-Fi and its partners have supported over 500,000 women entrepreneurs across 83 countries to access finance, markets, and skills necessary to scale their businesses and reach their potential.
