Etsy Shut Us Down | The Ugly Side Of Etsy | How To Avoid Being Suspended I say this is Etsy for Beginners and people wanting to know How To Sell On Etsy because you need to know this before you decide to open an Etsy shop. If you are thinking of starting an Etsy shop in 2023 I want to share the ugly side of Etsy that most etsy sellers won’t tell you! I was an Etsy Best Seller multiple times, making six figures a year and it happened to me. If you want to avoid getting permanently suspended keep listening. It does not matter how long you have been with Etsy, if they think you have broken the rules they will shut you down, no questions asked and with no warning. It is next to impossible to get anyone to to talk to you and the responses are canned most of the time. Even with my bad experience with Etsy, I still believe it is one of the easiest ways to get started selling in the online world. It is hard to compete against them when you venture out on your own without spending excessive amounts of time and money in advertising so I still see it as a great way to make online and passive income in 2023. Just be warned and prepared if you plan to open a shop that you could be permanently suspended (all of your shops) and according to their guidelines never allowed to open a new shop again. A: We considered and even contacted a lawyer at one point it but decided it was not worth the battle. Financially, it was better for us to move on rather than fighting a large company. (Who’s site has since shut down 😒) Q: Why would you want to sell on Etsy again? A: Because I know the system and have created multiple best sellers through it. It is easier than starting anything from scratch! Plus…I love a challenge! Q: Have you tried to contact Etsy again to see if they would reconsider? A: In short, No. My experience with their legal department was less than pleasant and they are very difficult to work with. Lots of auto responses etc. Q: Do you think selling POD on etsy is even right? Isn’t it handmade? A: I hated when Etsy started allowing other products to be sold besides specifically handmade. I think their checks and balances is terrible. I could go search schitts creek today and it would pull up multiple listings, which tells me that people are still using the terms…they just haven’t been attacked by a large company. That is the only time Etsy actually takes action. There are also dropshippers selling goods from alibaba etc. It isn’t what it used to be! If you are going to open an Etsy shop: Own your domain!
