In this free beginner workshop, I’ll walk you through a calm, practical way to paint a simple house portrait in watercolour using a clear 3-step process. If you’ve ever looked at a reference photo and felt stuck—especially with buildings, roofs, windows, and all those “little details”—this is the session I made for you. My goal here is to help you simplify the scene so you can actually enjoy the painting, instead of getting overwhelmed. We’ll focus on building the painting in stages: first getting the main shapes in, then adding your mid-tones, and finally finishing with the darker accents that make the house read clearly. Along the way I’ll share how I think about edges, value control, and keeping things loose so your washes stay fresh. You don’t need fancy materials to follow along—just a small, reliable brush setup, decent paper, and a simple palette will take you a long way.
