Maritime Attacks in the MENA Region

The "Maritime Attacks in the MENA Region" map is an in-depth look at attacks on shipping in the waters surrounding the Middle East and North Africa. This map covers the period from 2017 onward, casting particular light on the evolution of attacks by Iran and the Houthi militia in Yemen. The map draws on the expertise of its creators, Noam Raydan and Farzin Nadimi, whose research includes ship tracking, illicit networks, security risks, naval warfare, energy, and the maritime domain. Noam Raydan is a senior fellow at The Washington Institute whose research focuses on energy flows and shipping. Farzin Nadimi is a senior fellow at The Washington Institute specializing in Iran’s defense capabilities.
