Our Burglary in Cuenca Ecuador Our Home Was Burglarized in Cuenca, Ecuador | What Happened & What We’re Doing Now This is not the video we ever expected to make. After years of promoting Cuenca, Ecuador as one of the safest and most peaceful cities we’ve lived in — and after filming 50+ videos highlighting our experiences here since 2020 — our home was burglarized at 2:00 AM on Wednesday, November 12th. The intruders wrapped our electric fence wires, scaled our perimeter, and spent 17 minutes inside our yard while we slept. They opened cabinets, searched through our outdoor areas, and took several items — including something deeply personal to us: Katie’s stroller, a G7 Jogger Pet Stroller specially imported into Ecuador. Only two exist in the entire country, and one was ours. They also stole: A brand-new lawnmower/weed-eater combo A scooter charger And most importantly, our sense of safety As fate would have it, Warren flew to Colombia the next morning, unaware anything had even happened. Julie handled the police reports, coordinated with neighbors, and worked with security professionals to repair and upgrade our fence on her own. We now have additional sensors, tighter security measures, and alarms activated 100% of the time. We’ve always tried to be positive, balanced, and honest in our videos about life abroad. But after this incident, we feel we owe our viewers the full truth — even when it’s uncomfortable. We still love this community, and many people here have shown incredible kindness. But this break-in has changed our perspective, and we refuse to give anyone a false sense of security by glossing over what happened. If you are local to Cuenca, please keep an eye out for Katie’s stroller. It is a G7 Jogger Pet Stroller — one of only two in Ecuador. If you see it being used or listed for sale, please contact us or the police. Thank you to everyone who has reached out, supported us, or helped Julie while Warren is away. Your encouragement is the only reason we can share this story. Please comment below: Have you experienced anything similar living abroad? What security measures helped you regain peace of mind? 🙏 Thank you for watching and for supporting our channel during this difficult moment. We will continue to share our journey with transparency, honesty, and community at the heart of everything we do. 📌 FOLLOW US & JOIN OUR COMMUNITY 🌍 Facebook Group: Expat Slow Travel Nomad Network by Warren & Julie Travel 🌐 Website & Expat Resources: warrenjulietravel.com 🐾 Instagram: @warrenjulietravel ⚠️DISCLAIMER: We do not accept any liability for any loss or damage incurred from you acting or not acting as a result of watching any of our publications.
