Elyria police conducting review after video of arrest at Juneteenth celebration spreads online

An arrest following a Juneteenth celebration in downtown Elyria is raising questions about police use of force after videos of the incident circulated widely on social media. The incident happened Saturday in Ely Square following a Juneteenth celebration. Video shared online appears to show officers detaining a young girl as a crowd gathers around them. The circumstances leading up to the arrest have not been confirmed. "I'm still trying to put the whole story together myself," said attorney Alex Bodiford, who told 3News he represents the young girl seen in the video as well as two other people facing charges related to the incident. Bodiford stated he believes the officers' actions should be reviewed. "I would like to see the police held accountable. I would like to see maybe a policy change," he added. "I just believe the knee on the neck was a little excessive." Bodiford declined to identify his clients, but said the girl seen in the video is 15 years old. He also confirmed one of his clients is facing a felony assault on a police officer charge after allegedly stepping in during the arrest.
