These models focus on extreme efficiency during parking recording and a significant leap in video quality through new processing hardware and higher-resolution rear cameras. Ultra-Low Power Parking Mode: The Elite series draws less than 1mA of current in its standby state, allowing it to remain active for over a year when connected to a dedicated dashcam battery pack. Despite this low draw, the system wakes and begins recording in less than one second after an impact is detected. [00:16, 01:00] Resolution & Sensor Specs: Elite 9: Features a 4K front camera (IMX678) and a 2K rear camera (IMX675). Both front and rear cameras support HDR (High Dynamic Range) for better detail in challenging lighting. [01:24, 01:44] Elite 10: Features 4K front and 4K rear recording. However, while the front camera has HDR, the 4K rear camera utilizes "linear recording" without HDR to prioritize raw resolution. [01:44, 01:54] Technical Upgrades: The Elite series moves to a newer, faster Novatek chipset (SoC) compared to the older DR970X series. This allows for 12-bit image capture and improved ISP (Image Signal Processing) tuning, leading to richer color depth and better license plate clarity even when using the same IMX678 sensor as previous models. [03:44, 04:19] Hardware Compatibility: The Elite units are physically larger than the DR970X series and require a new mounting bracket. However, the power cables and front-to-rear coaxial cables remain compatible, allowing for easier upgrades for existing BlackVue users. A new 6Gbps shielded cable is included for better interference protection. [05:18, 06:17] Market Position: The Elite 9 and 10 are set to replace the non-LTE DR970X models. The DR970X LTE Plus will remain on the market until a dedicated Elite LTE version is developed.
