Hi guys! So, I recently decided to crochet a blanket/rug as a gift and I spent so much time looking for the right stitch to make it with. I had to the yarn chosen already and it was a self-striping yarn. I really wanted a stitch that would be perfect for self-striping yarn and I stumbled upon the shell stitch. Yes, this stitch is very well known, but I found out just recently that it looks wonderful with multicolored yarn because it hides the color changes super well! This simple and super easy crochet blanket/rug uses just two stitches: single crochets (sc) and double crochets (dc). These are very basic stitches that are easy to learn! I used roughly 1200 yards of Caron Big Cakes in the color Toffee Brickle. This yarn is soft and easy to work with. It is a size 4 acrylic yarn and I used a 5.5 mm hook.
