I’m using the iPad 9th generation (Lightning) as the main brain for this budget recording setup. It’s more than enough to get you recording vocals and running a MIDI keyboard as long as you power everything the right way with the proper adapters.

Cons

-Lightning port usually requires adapters for USB gear
-May not provide enough power for interfaces and peripherals without a powered hub
