If you’ve ever crimped a cable and stared at the wire order like it’s a bomb defusal, I’ve got you. I show you the exact step-by-step process for both methods using T568B, including stripping about 1 to 1.5 inches, separating pairs, straightening the conductors (take your time here), and making sure the cable jacket seats deep into the connector for proper strain relief. For standard RJ45s, the “pro method” is all about precision: trim to about 3/4 inch, get all eight wires fully seated to the end, and keep exposed copper to a minimum. For EZ/pass-through, the “easy method” is faster because you can push the wires through, visually confirm the order before crimping, and then let the specialized crimper cut the ends flush. I also cover the real-world pros and cons: EZ ends are great for beginners and speed, but they depend on a sharp cutting blade and can leave tiny wire ends if the tool is dull. Standard ends are harder and slower for beginners, but they’re universal, clean at the tip, and many installers trust them for long-term durability. My golden rule: beginners use EZ; pros with good technique use standard—and in both cases, quality tools and testing matter more than connector type.
