Amazon is quietly turning settings back on after Fire Stick updates, and a lot of people don’t even realize it. In this video, I walk you through the exact privacy and notification settings I check every single time there’s an update—because you might disable tracking today, then an update rolls in and flips it right back on. I also show you how to check for updates (Settings > My Fire TV > About > Check for Updates) so you can confirm your Fire OS version and know when it’s time to re-check everything. From there, I go straight into the “meat and bones” of the Privacy Settings—Device Data Usage, Collect App Usage Data, and Interest-Based Ads—because if you don’t want Amazon using your data for marketing and “product improvement,” you need to shut those down. I also cover a few performance/quality-of-life settings like Data Monitoring (useful if you have an internet cap), Do Not Interrupt and per-app notifications, and the Featured Content autoplay settings that make the home screen start blasting audio.
