Despite many friends telling me not to waste my time in Manila, I decided to give it a shot and was so glad I ignored everyone! Manila was a beautiful city and I stayed in Makati at the Citadenes Hotel. Not only is the hotel located in perhaps the most beautiful parts of the city - it is itself beautiful. The area is phenomenal. Probably about a twenty minute drive from the airport, the hotel is in the heart of Makati which is the business/financial district. The area is so clean you can eat off the ground. It is central to public transportation and beautiful parks, and lots of restaurants, including western options. I couldn't believe there was even a Tim Horton's of all places in Makati! The hotel is immaculate and the service was amazing. I stayed for three nights and to me, I was treated like a rock star. Every time I would enter the doors, three or four people would welcome me by name. It made me feel very special, as though I was the only guest in the hotel.I got my room with breakfast included. Breakfast is actually in a restaurant next-door which has a menu with great options including Asian and western style options. You can order anything from Indonesian nasi-goreng to French toast with bacon. I was very happy with the options and so glad that I chose to have breakfast included. The room was one of the nicest I ever stayed in. It had its own kitchen, living room, and a television in the living room and bedroom. The bathroom was super-modern and clean. The beds were amazingly comfortable. With a spectacular view of the city, I felt like living there.There is an awesome infinity pool overlooking the city as well which is a great place to relax. While I did not use it, there is a modern gym for the traveller who wants to work out.I can't wait to go back and when I do, I will definitely stay here again. Thank you Citadenes for everything!
