Mixed Media Heart Art Journal Tutorial | Watercolor, Distress Oxides & Gold Acrylic

In today’s art journal tutorial, I’m layering Distress Oxide inks, watercolor, gold acrylic paint, carbon pencil, and cold wax to create this bold, textured mixed media heart. This project started with a soft stenciled background using water-reactive Distress Oxides, then we added a vibrant tropical watercolor heart and let gold acrylic do its beautiful “art science” magic on wet paint. We finish everything with carbon pencil details, a bold border, and a matte seal using Dorland’s Cold Wax.
