Canon M50 Camera
I upgraded to the Canon EOS M50 Mark II for YouTube work and it’s been 100% worth it for me—especially because the autofocus is far better than my G7X Mark III. After a couple months of real filming, it’s been reliable, easy to dial in (once you go manual), and it pairs great with an external mic.
Pros
- +Autofocus is far superior compared to the G7X Mark III
- +Flip-out articulating screen is great for video framing
- +Mic input makes it easy to run an external microphone
- +Solid battery life for filming (about 2–3 hours per battery)
Cons
- -Record button is small/recessed in a spot that’s annoying for video until you remap controls
- -Viewfinder sensor can darken the screen unexpectedly unless you disable it
