I work in Special Education and had the privilege of working with James (not his real name). James is a 7-year-old boy with Autism who has frequent violent outbursts both at home and in the classroom. James completely calms down when he is able to spend time drawing. I keep large sheets of paper and sharp pencils close by when working with James. Drawing can be very therapeutic and calming for kids and adults especially when we don't worry about mistakes. James loves to draw trains, transport trucks, and the Titanic. Watching James draw is very relaxing.
