Rock Point Provincial Park Review | Visiting and Camping at Rock Point Provincial Park Ontario Parks

📍 Rock Point Provincial Park is found on the north shore of Lake Erie in southern Ontario. Something we found a bit interesting is that the park is located beside the mouth of the Grand River (where the Grand River opens into Lake Erie)! 00:00 - Start 1:33 - Camp Store 2:22 - Camp Sites 3:00 - Bathrooms 3:28 - The Beach 5:15 - Nature & Trails 6:23 - Day Use Area 6:43 - Final Thoughts - 1️⃣ This Park is home to exposed fossils of a coral reef dating back to over 350 million years ago! The fossils are embedded in a limestone shelf along the beach. We found this to be INCREDIBLY cool! You can literally spend a few hours slowly walking along and looking at the fossils. Water shoes or sandals are recommended. Although the rock shelf is walkable bare foot, there are sections with broken up seashells that are razor sharp (yes I [Tia] learned this the hard way). - 2️⃣ Activities: The Park is home to 1km of sandy beach, so if you're a beach bum you can get your beach fix. Even on a foggy day we enjoyed hanging out at the beach. There are signs about a strong undercurrent though, so always be careful when swimming. There is also 2km of hiking trails if you're looking to get moving. The trail runs along the beach at the top of the sand dunes. Lastly, birding and fishing seem to be extremely popular activities at this park. There have been over 260 bird species recorded in the park and you can fish off the limestone rock for large and smallmouth Bass and Pickerel. - 3️⃣ We were super impressed with the campsites. Our campsite was grassy with lots of tree coverage. The site itself was well maintained and had quite a bit of privacy! There was one picnic table and of course the fire pit.
