The Super VHS videotape format was released in 1987 and offered improved resolution over VHS, but how much better was the viewing experience for folks watching at home? The specs say that SVHS offered over 400 lines of resolution compared to 240 lines with VHS video tape. Specifications aside, how much of a difference does it make to a viewer of these formats? In this video, I do side by side comparisons of the two formats using the SVHS and VHS versions of "Star Trek II, The Wrath of Khan" and "Patriot Games", both movies were Paramount releases marked on the back as "Super Source Video".
