If this is happening you should consult your pediatrician or speech pathologist. What does a "picky eater" mean? Why are they not eating the food? Can they not chew the food? Do they stick with softer foods? Children may stay away from foods that are difficult to eat, or they may prefer blander foods or foods with less texture. If you feel your child is having difficulty feeding, consult your pediatrician and they can refer you to a local speech pathologist for an evaluation. Speech Language Pathologist can be an expert feeding therapist as well if they are trained in this area of expertise. Therapy is usually once a week for 30 minutes. It is VERY important for the family to be involved in the sessions to help the child feed at home.
