In this video I take a tour around some very famous places related to Pablo Escobar. The first place is the former site of the Monaco building that was once owned by Pablo. The Cali Cartel planted a car bomb there in 1988, but failed to kill Pablo Escobar. The building was torn down by the city of Medellin, and now it is a memorial for the victims of violence related to the drug trafficking. Next, I go to the last safe house where the Search Bloc found Escobar hiding. He was spotted on the balcony talking on a cellphone/radio. As the Search Bloc entered the safe house Pablo Escobar and his body guard, Limon, attempted to escape out of a back window, and both were shot and killed on the rooftop, which I show next. The death of Pablo Escobar remains shrouded in controversy. Many people believe that he shot himself when he knew there was no way out. Pablo Escobar had a saying that, translated loosely, meant he would rather end up dead in Colombia than in a jail cell in the US. I also was able to obtain an interview of sorts with a young man who worked in a little store directly across the street from the rooftop where Pablo Escobar died. He was 22 years old, and very nice. I inquired about whether or not schools in Colombia discussed Pablo Escobar when talking about Colombian history and he said no. The next stop was the famous prison, known as La Catedral, that Pablo Escobar had custom built when he decided to turn himself in to the Colombian government rather than face extradition to the US. The prison has been all but destroyed; mostly by people coming to search for Pablo's hidden money. The former casino of the prison is still there as is the helipad, and several of the guard towers. There is a home for the elderly at the very top and this "prison" has a magnificent view of Medellin. Last but not least was a stop to the final resting place of Pablo Escobar. He is buried in his family plot, and fresh flowers can be seen adorning his grave. Just to the left Pablo's grave is his cousin, Gustavo, who was killed about 3 years before Pablo Escobar. Buried with Gustavo is his son of the same name. What is interesting is that the younger Gustavo died on the same day as Pablo Escobar, December 2nd, 1993. Some people report that Pablo Escobar may have received word of young Gustavo's death, and this had a major impact on his state of mind. Interestingly enough, there is a grave of 3 business associates of Pablo Escobar that he allegedly had killed, grilled, and then served the meat to the body guards of the 3 men. Also buried in the same cemetery is Griselda Blanco. Very interesting stuff!!! What do you think really happened?
