Fermenting is something that I have wanted to start for awhile. It is a long standing (ancient) means of food preservation. So as a micro homesteader I really felt it was a skill I needed to have in my tool belt. I decided that making a ginger bug was a great baby step into the world of fermentation, plus seeing as I grow my own ginger it just made sense to give it a shot. It really wasn't hard and within 5 days I had a lovely bubbling ginger bug!
