Based on request - here's a video aimed to help teens and adults reduce disfluencies/stuttering/stammering in daily speech! Remember though: mild disfluencies are a normal part of speech! Also, UNUSUAL circumstances can creat anxiety, which is often a trigger for increased stuttering (not a cause) so consider a possible 2-3 month phrase if you begin to stutter when things are out of the ordinary (aka pandemic)! Give it time to let things normalize and if stuttering still persists, try these strategies and techniques to help! Stuttering STRATEGIES for ADULTS/TEENS: -Have time to PLAN what you will say -Take the focus OFF of you when introducing yourself and put it on remembering THEIR name instead! - Practice your name / key phrases in the mirror while using eye contact! - Use a melodic intonation approach when needed (sing-songy rhythm) - Practice EASY Onsets (easing into a sentence instead of beginning with a hard/loud start) -If you find yourself stuttering A LOT in one sentence - STOP the sentence, re-group and try again! -RELAX! ALL typical/normal speech has mild-moderate disfluencies! The less you worry, the better it is! You can do it!
