I had so much inspiration and fun this week, making my fashion wearable art pants from a thrifted pants, scraps of fabric, a thrifted Lily Pulitzer bandana, strawberry buttons, and embroidery. I used vintage fabric, slow stitching, applique, embroidery, and lots of love. I opened the legs of the pants to allow my sewing machine to applique the legs of the pants easily. These pants are handstitched with embroidery thread, parts of it machine sewn. The entire pant can be made just hand sewing if a sewing machine is not available. I used several hand stitching styles, including daisy stitch, Sachiko stitching, and hand quilting. I love how these C.C California pant upcycle turned out! #Fridaysews #Simplicity #upcycle #wearableart 🎀🎀🎀🎀🎀🎀🎀🎀🎀 Fabric Online: https://www.etsy.com/listing/996206786/crafters-bundle-organic-fabric-scraps Vogue Fabric www.voguefabricsstore.com Spoonflower Fabrics www.spoonflower.com Mood Fabrics www.moodfabrics.com Blue Moon Fabrics www.bluemoonfabrics.com Etsy www.etsy.com Core Fabrics www.corefabrics.com Amazon www.amazon.com Tulla Pink Website www.tullapink.com #fridaysews #Simplicity #winter #handmade MENTIONED: Freepeople.com Anthropologie.com www.hobbs.com MORE VIDEOS TO WATCH ON MY CHANNEL : ❤️Self Drafted Spring Tops https://youtu.be/oK-9cU2idKg?si=Dk5TrCCguv4Vfzlt 🩷Sewing an Anthroplogie Style Top https://youtu.be/Mz2cHR4A6KE?si=amDqONOFimNqTod2 ❤️https://www.youtube.com/live/Bfk15aI3ADQ?si=zVkjEn2pbuhc-MBE JoAnn Fabric Sale and Haul https://youtu.be/Xlve-IYQR2Q?si=PUUZOyszuGXWRjZD Upcycle Carribean Cruise https://youtu.be/-UyOYt-F9PE?si=bSa2HQb_nwfKjivj Tour of my Tiny Sewing Trailer https://youtu.be/ypG4Lij-61U?si=V0edyonHraxI7Bbt Channels I follow: @dineincreativity @AdamSews @ZeldaSews @sewlovelywithgrace @tmyershandmade978 @hoosierhandmade22 @TodayinJensSewingRoom @SewLetsSparkleWithSam @shesewsseams @MariSews COME FOLLOW ME: Instagram: Lesley_thesewingcircle Want to send me mail? About This Video

This week in my Friday Sews world, I had the most fun turning a thrifted pair of C.C. California pants into easy, artsy “strawberry pants” that feel like true wearable art. I pulled from my favorite kind of stash—fabric scraps, a thrifted Lily Pulitzer bandana, some adorable strawberry buttons, and a mix of vintage fabric—then piled on the slow stitching, applique, embroidery, and lots of love. The whole point for me was letting the pants look collected and cozy, like they’ve got a story. I show how I opened the legs so I could get in there and applique more easily on my sewing machine (but I also share that you can absolutely do the whole project by hand if you don’t have a machine). I used several hand-stitching styles—daisy stitch, sashiko-style stitching, and hand quilting—plus some machine stitching where it made sense. The big takeaway is you don’t need “perfect” to make something beautiful: thrifted basics + scraps + slow stitching can turn into a one-of-a-kind piece you’ll actually want to wear.
