The Grit X2 is Polar’s most compact outdoor watch developed to date. However, it’s important to make sure that it has the features you need, AND that it performs as advertised. So today we will do an initial systematic and scientific test of the Polar Grit X2. By the way, for those of you that are new to the channel, my name is Rob, and I am a postdoctoral scientist specializing in biological data analysis. Before getting to the testing, let’s go over all the details of the Grit X2 and how it is different from other recent Polar watches. Basically, the Grit X2 combines the core features of the Polar outdoor range—navigation capability, sensor sets, and specialized tools for training and recovery—within a smaller, lighter, AND more affordable form factor than earlier models in this category. Polar has actually taken a very interesting approach with all its recent models, where they basically incorporate mostly the same hardware and firmware in every single model, no matter the price point, and it’s mostly the design and materials that are different. For instance the 400 dollar Polar Vantage M3 has basically the same sensor set as the 750 dollar Polar Grit X2 Pro. Of course the screen size and materials are different, but the performance should be basically the same. The new Polar Grit X2 we are testing today is no exception, and the main difference between the Polar Grit X2 and the Grit X2 Pro is the more compact and lightweight form factor, making it suitable for users who found previous outdoor models too large or uncomfortable. Despite its reduced size, it still incorporates the full range of premium navigation, mapping, and biosensing features found in Polar’s flagship devices, including the Polar Elixir sensor set and a replaceable battery for extended device lifespan through Polar Service. The amount of internal storage at 32 gigabytes is designed to support large map files and extensive data logging for users who require long-term navigation and training tracking.
