An interesting entry into the Rhino High Fidelity Vinyl Series is The Stooges self titled debut album, originally released on Elektra Records in 1969. I thought it was a curious release for an "audiophile" series, as it's anything but an audiophile quality recording. Still, its an important album that deserves the best possible reissue, and Rhino has certainly upped the game. Join me for some personal memories and a good look at the new edition, with commentary on the sound. AAA remastered from the original master tapes by Kevin Gray at Cohearant Audio, pressed on 180gm vinyl at Optimal, Germany, and housed in a deluxe high gloss tip on gatefold jacket by Stoughton Printing. An essay, rare photos and lyric sheet are included. This copy is from the limited numbered run, 1791 / 5000. 00:00 Introduction 00:25 Personal History With The Stooges 02:35 The Rhino High Fidelity Pressing 05:16 Some Highlights 07:52 Conlusion If you particularly enjoyed this video, please consider a small one time donation to the channel!
