The Hurdy Gurdy Man Returns: Donovan's Mind-Bending Classic

A nice surprise from Impex this month is an new audiophile vinyl reissue of Donovan's - The Hurdy Gurdy Man. This record was originally released on Epic Records in 1968, at the tail end of the psychedelic era. The reissue of Donovan's Hurdy Gurdy Man is an all analog mastering, cut from the original master tape by Chris Bellman at Bernie Grundman Mastering. The record is pressed on 180gm vinyl at RTI, and housed in beautiful heavy duty single pocket jacket from Stoughton Printing, with a new four page card stock insert. The insert features new original design elements by Robeert Sliger, as well as an essay by historian Charles Granata. Hurdy Gurdy Man incorporates elements of folk, hard rock, psychedelic, and eastern music. The record was produced in 1968, and was influenced by Donovan's trip to India with The Beatles.
