Sonny Rollins Way Out West - Contemporary Acoustic Sounds Series Vinyl Review. Sonny Rollins Way Out West was recorded in 1957 for Contemporary Records by Roy DuNann. It features Sonny Rollins on tenor saxophone, Ray Brown on bass, and Shelly Manne on drums. This was the first time these artists worked together, and the result is a five star jazz masterpiece. This new reissue of Sonny Rollins Way Out West is part on the ongoing Contemporary Acoustic Sounds Series, overseen by Chad Kassem. The reissue is an all analog cut by Bernie Grundman, and is pressed on 180gm vinyl by RTI. The jacket is a heavy duty, single sleeve tip-on jacket that replicates the original release.
