Milstein Masterpieces for Violin and Orchestra. - Greatest Violin Records!

One of the greatest violin records in my collection is a Capitol Full Dimensional Stereo release of a collection of short works for Violin and Orchestra titled Milstein Masterpieces. It was during a search of currently available classical vinyl that I remembered that Analogue Productions had done this title as a one-off. I believe it is the only Capitol classical record ever reissued by Chad Kassem. That he chose this title is revealing, because not only is it one of the greatest violin records and a superb-sounding recording, but it's also extremely rare, with originals in near-mint condition reaching $500.00! In this video I talk about the time I acquired my original, my recent audition of it, and how it compares to the reissue which as of this publication is still available. Capitol SP-8528 Milstein Masterpieces features Nathan Milstein in a program of works by Mozart, Beethoven, Wieniawski, Novacek, Stravinsky, and Saint Saens, for violin and Orchestra. The set was conducted by Walter Susskind with The Concert Arts Orchestra. The 2017 reissue is mastered all analog from the original master tape by Kevin Gray at Cohearant.
