In this companion video to my written review for Audiophilia, I share a more personal and emotional response to the Definitive Sound Series One-Step pressing of Lionel Richie – Can’t Slow Down. Originally released in 1983, Can’t Slow Down went on to sell over 20 million copies worldwide and became one of the defining pop records of its era. But does it justify a $100 luxury audiophile reissue? This limited edition One-Step pressing was mastered by Chris Bellman at Bernie Grundman Mastering, cut directly from the original master tapes, and pressed at RTI on Neotech VR900D2 vinyl — widely regarded as one of the highest quality vinyl formulations available today. The presentation is equally premium: a beautifully designed slipcase, high-quality gatefold jacket, original labels, and meticulous production throughout. In my full written review, I go deep into the mastering lineage, sonic presentation, and track-by-track analysis. In this video, I explore something slightly different — why this release genuinely surprised me, and why it may be the best way to experience this iconic album.
