In this video I give you my impressions from a first time listen to Ella Fitzgerald Let No Man Write my Epitaph, a reissue on the Acoustic Sounds Verve Jazz Series. This version of Let No Man Write My Epitaph was originally mastered for Classic Records by Bernie Grundman, and Chad Kassem decided to use the existing metalwork for this release. The jacket, which was printed before the final decision, erroneously credits Ryan K Smith at Sterling Sound Ella Fitzgerald was featured in the 1960 film Let No Man Write My Epitaph in a role as a singing piano player. This album, while not technically a soundtrack, has the entire session from which the three tracks used in the film were taken. Featuring just Ella and piano, it is a showcase for her vocals as displayed on a group of ballads from the American Songbook.
