Often labeled “vintage,” this note continues to appear in modern fragrances in fresh, creative ways, and when done right, it smells absolutely incredible. In this video, I explore several fragrances that highlight Lily of the Valley, from the ultra-classic benchmark to more contemporary, green, and abstract interpretations. Since Lily of the Valley is a “fantasy note” that can’t be extracted naturally, perfumers recreate it using a blend of materials—and that’s where things get really interesting. Expect everything from photorealistic floral bouquets to sharp green, vegetal compositions that feel like stepping into a spring garden after the rain.
