I walk you through how I like to start planning when the trip is still far out, because (in my opinion) that’s when it feels the most exciting and the least stressful. I share the big-picture stuff I focus on first—like getting clear on the general time of year, what kind of trip vibe we want, and what I want this trip to include—before I get lost in the tiny details. I also talk about using a travel agent as a planning resource and why I love having someone in my corner early, especially for things like resort options and keeping an eye on the planning timeline. I share a few agents you can check out (including Katie Brown, who I’m working with), and I explain how I treat this first phase as more of a “dream and outline” season rather than a “book everything right now” season.
