NASA Just Fixed The Concorde. It Is SILENT

Commercial aviation used to get faster, but Concorde was retired in 2003, and the world’s passenger planes quietly slowed down. Now NASA is trying to change that. Built by Lockheed Martin’s Skunk Works, the X-59 uses an extremely long nose, a windowless cockpit, and a revolutionary “quiet boom” design to turn the explosive shockwave of supersonic flight into a soft thump. If the tests succeed, regulators could finally lift the decades-old ban on supersonic flight over land.
