Paul WS Anderson's Event Horizon debuted to terrible reviews and paltry box office numbers, but in the quarter century since its 1997 release, the film has become a cult classic. What some don't realize is that the film they've seen is not the version Anderson originally created. The original workprint of Event Horizon was nearly 130 minutes long and upset both Paramount and test audiences with its extreme imagery and gore. In the 25 years since, there have been whispers that we would someday see Anderson's original vision restored -- but will we? That's the question we're tackling in today's episode of Deep Cuts! Special Thanks to Lancelot Narayan -- the Director of the excellent The Making of Event Horizon documentary -- for telling the story of the film and its alternate (and presumably lost) cut. I highly recommend the documentary for an even deeper dive into this story.
