The original Nintendo Switch is still my go-to “middle ground” recommendation because it’s versatile: handheld when you want it, docked when you need it. It can play a massive catalog and, right now, it still overlaps with most of the Switch 2 library, so it’s a great way to save money without feeling left behind.

- +Good value now that many people upgraded to Switch 2
- +Solid battery life for the lineup (about 2–8 hours depending on use)
Cons
- -LCD screen isn’t as immersive as the OLED model
- -Not as powerful as Switch 2 for future exclusives and performance
