Victory that night meant the retired Portugal international, a prominent member of his country’s “golden generation” who has since gone on to manage teams including Leicester City, Fiorentina, Bordeaux, Poland and Flamengo, achieved the unusual feat of winning successive Champions League titles with different teams.
